Product Description
Canon Speedlite EL-5 Ver. 2 Flash is the updated version of Canon's flagship EL-5 Speedlite, announced on 15 September 2026 together with the EOS R8 Mark II. It is made for wedding, event, sports and portrait photographers who shoot with Canon EOS R cameras that have the Multi-Function Shoe. Canon says Ver. 2 gives better communication range than the first EL-5.
Power and speed
With a guide number of 60 m, it lights distant subjects and large groups. The LP-EL battery recycles in 0.1 to 1.2 seconds, fires up to about 85 full-power flashes in a burst and lasts up to about 350 full-power flashes per charge.
Wireless multi-flash
The built-in radio transmitter controls up to 15 Speedlites from up to 50 m away, so you can build a full studio-style lighting setup on location. The Dual White LED modelling light lets you preview the light before you shoot.
Easy control from the camera
On a camera with the Multi-Function Shoe, you can set the flash from the camera menu. FE Memory, Custom Flash Modes and manual control down to 1/1024 power give fine control for creative work.
