Product Description
Canon EOS R8 Mark II Mirrorless Camera is Canon's compact full-frame mirrorless camera announced on 15 September 2026. It keeps the 24.2MP full-frame sensor of the EOS R8 and adds in-body image stabilisation, a 40 fps electronic shutter, uncropped 4K 60p video and a new multi-controller. It suits travellers, families, hobby photographers, wedding and event shooters and content creators who want full-frame quality in a light body.
Stabilisation and autofocus
The 5-axis in-body stabiliser works with lens IS for up to 7.5 stops of shake correction, and Peripheral Coordinated Control reduces blur at the edges of wide-angle shots. Dual Pixel CMOS AF II tracks people, animals and vehicles across the whole frame, and you can register the people you shoot most so the camera focuses on them first.
Speed
The electronic shutter shoots at up to 40 fps, and pre-continuous shooting saves up to 20 frames from before you fully press the shutter, so you do not miss the moment. Canon rates the buffer at 58 percent more JPEG and 30 percent more RAW shots in a burst than the original EOS R8.
Video and streaming
It records uncropped 4K at up to 60p, oversampled from 6K, and Full HD at up to 180p for slow motion, in 10-bit 4:2:2 formats. A 3.5 mm mic input and headphone jack, USB-C streaming and HDMI output make it a capable vlogging and streaming camera. Wi-Fi 6 speeds up transfers to your phone.
Which kit should you choose?
Body Only is for users who already have RF or EF lenses (with an adapter). The RF 24-50mm F4.5-6.3 IS STM kit is the smallest, lightest travel set. The RF 24-105mm F4-7.1 IS STM kit gives more zoom reach for portraits, events and travel.
