Apple Studio Display XDR is Apple's 27-inch 5K Retina XDR monitor with a mini-LED backlight, announced on 3 March 2026. It is made for video editors, colourists, photographers, designers and developers who need accurate HDR and wide colour on a Mac.
5K Retina XDR display
The 27-inch panel has 5120 × 2880 pixels at 218 ppi. A mini-LED backlight with 2304 local dimming zones gives up to 1000 nits for everyday SDR work and 2000 nits peak brightness for HDR. It supports P3 and Adobe RGB wide colour, 1 billion colours and True Tone, with a 120Hz refresh rate and Adaptive Sync.
Reference modes for pro work
Built-in reference modes cover HDR video, HDTV, digital cinema, design and print, photography and web work, plus medical imaging (DICOM) modes, so you can match the display to your project.
Camera, speakers and mics
The 12MP Center Stage camera keeps you in frame on video calls and supports Desk View. A six-speaker system with force-cancelling woofers plays Spatial Audio with Dolby Atmos, and a studio-quality three-mic array with beamforming picks up clear voice.
Thunderbolt 5 connectivity
One Thunderbolt 5 cable connects your Mac and charges it at up to 140W. A second Thunderbolt 5 port connects fast accessories or more displays, and two USB-C ports (up to 10Gb/s) connect peripherals, storage and networking.
Stand, VESA mount adapter and glass
Choose the tilt- and height-adjustable stand (−5° to +25° tilt and 105 mm of height adjustment) or the VESA mount adapter for a compatible arm or wall mount in landscape or portrait. Standard glass has low reflectivity; nano-texture glass scatters light to cut glare further in bright rooms.
