Apple AirPods Max are Apple's over-ear headphones with an anodised aluminium build and a breathable knit mesh canopy. This is the USB-C version that Apple announced on 9 September 2024, in Midnight, Starlight, Blue, Purple and Orange. It suits listeners who want premium sound and strong noise cancellation in an Apple headphone.
Noise cancellation and Transparency
Active Noise Cancellation uses eight of the nine microphones to block outside noise on flights, in traffic and in busy offices. Transparency mode lets you hear the world around you when you need to.
Sound quality
An Apple-designed dynamic driver and Adaptive EQ give rich, balanced sound. Personalised Spatial Audio with dynamic head tracking makes films and music feel immersive. With a wired USB-C connection and compatible content, AirPods Max play Lossless Audio.
Battery and Smart Case
Apple rates the battery at up to 20 hours of listening, movie playback or talk time with ANC on. Five minutes of charging gives about 1.5 hours of listening. Storing them in the Smart Case puts them into an ultra-low-power state to save battery.
Comfort and controls
The knit mesh canopy and memory foam ear cushions spread the weight for long sessions. The Digital Crown controls volume, playback and calls, and a separate button switches between noise cancellation and Transparency.
